Med SSE System GmbH Alfred von der Lehr, based in Nuremberg, Germany has had a very good working relationship with Ramer (formerly Prosthex) since 1982, based on mutual trust.
This cooperation has its origins in the mid-1970s. A subsidiary (Temca) of Vereinigte Papierwerke Nürnberg 1) was asked by the University of Erlangen to develop a tampon that would give incontinent children back their quality of life.
The funds for this development project were provided by the VW Foundation. As an alternative to conventional tampons made of cotton fibers, which are too soft and not very elastic, a foam was considered. The idea and development by the product manager Alfred von der Lehr ultimately ended in the collaboration to develop a suitable foam in the desired quality with Prosthex.
The result was a polyvinyl foam (PVA) that achieved the properties required by the University of Erlangen. After structural changes at Vereinigte Papierwerke, Temca sold the machines to Prosthex for the production of the required polyvinyl foam (PVA).
Mr. von der Lehr, who played a decisive role in the development, went into business for himself with the company Med SSE in 1982, as already mentioned above. Ultimately, this was the beginning of a cooperation that has now lasted for almost 40 years. This supplier loyalty is the result of the consistently good product quality over the years.
The PVA foam is the main component of the incontinence tampons manufactured by Med SSE. These tampons must, due to EU directives, meet certain requirements in order to obtain a CE certificate. The tampons are used invasively (worn inside the body) for up to 12 hours. Numerous tests and examinations by accredited research laboratories underline that the PVA foam is toxicologically, dermatologically and immunologically harmless. Of course, consistent product quality is also expected and demanded by consumers and also by Med SSE as a processor. These properties are cleanliness, resilience, elasticity, consistent pore structure and good processability.
We would like to thank the Ramer company for the many years of very good cooperation.
